About Steve Stevens

Considered one of the most original axe-smiths to emerge from the ’80s rock scene, and long time collaborator with Billy Idol (a co-writer of such greats including “Rebel Yell”, “Eyes Without A Face” and “Flesh for Fantasy”), Steve has cemented himself as a veritable pillar at the leading edge of pristine guitar sonics.

Whether it’s his seminal performance on Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana”, his iconic Grammy Award winning performance on “Top Gun Anthem”, or his work with Vince Neil on “Exposed”, Steve’s unmistakable sound is often imitated but never surpassed. This notorious treasure trove for the recording elite was the first – and last – choice when it came to capturing Steve’s Platinum-series cabinet collection. The marriage of an awe-inspiring mic collection, and the legendary Neve® 8028 recording console from Sound City, served as the ultimate venue for one of our most iconic captures to date.

Devising Steve’s DynIR release demanded a special-recipe deserving of this icon in the modern world of guitar-driven virtuosity. Then, the all-important cabinets: five hand-picked 4×12’s from Steve’s personal collection. The iconic Scumback® Purple Raygun cabinet? It’s here! A V30-loaded 1971 Marshall® Basketweave 4×12 cab (complete with Jim Marshall’s hand-drawn signature)? We captured it! What about the V30-equipped 1980’s Marshall® 4×12 cab that graced the seminal Top Gun Anthem and Michael Jackson’s Dirty Dianna? How could we not include it!
